SINCE OUR MAGAZINE’S VERY FIRST ISSUE, PUBLISHED IN JANUARY 2007, WE HAVE PUBLISHED IN ITS PAGES MORE THAN A MILLION WORDS FROM MORE THAN A THOUSAND WRITERS, PLUS A HUGE BUNCH OF COMICS AND VISUAL ART.
Contributors we have published include Christos Tsiolkas, Helen Garner, David Foster Wallace, Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, Rick Moody, Karen Russell, Wayne Koestenbaum, Tom Cho, Anne Boyer, Douglas Coupland, Heidi Julavits, Tom Bissell, Tao Lin, Rebecca Giggs, Margo Lanagan, Jim Shepard, Tracy K. Smith, Frank Moorhouse, Anna Krien, Diane Williams, Sam Lipsyte, Eileen Myles, Sheila Heti, Blake Butler, Benjamin Kunkel, many more established practitioners, as well as hundreds of other writers and artists.
TLB is always a publisher of work that can be classified as 'literary', and we seek to champion work that pushes boundaries and challenges assumptions.
Alongside publishing work from some of our favourite people from around the world, our publishing efforts largely focus on writers and artists from the margins: people who live and write from demographic margins, and/or writers whose work sits in the literary margins. We see ourselves as giving platforms to important voices and viewpoints that are too often ignored.
We pay all of our contributors.
