Now in it's fourth year, The Lifted Brow & RMIT non/fictionLab Prize for Experimental Non-fiction is here again, and now open for entries.
This year's judges are Nadja Spiegelman, Ander Monson and Ellena Savage.
This prize encourages non-fiction writers to challenge themselves by testing the limits of their craft and creativity. We aim to unearth new, audacious, authentic and/or inauthentic voices from both Australia and the world.
We seek work that is unlike any other. We want to hear from writers we’ve never read before, and we want writers we already know and love to challenge themselves to create work unlike any they’ve previously produced.
The winner will receive AU$5000 and publication in an upcoming issue of The Lifted Brow, and two runners-up will each receive $500.
Read an excerpt from 2017's winning piece, 'An Architecture of Early Motherhood (and Independence)', by Stephanie Guest and Kate Riggs, and read 'The Essentials' by runner-up Lei Wang.
Entry fee is AU$7 or free for subscribers of the Lifted Brow (go ahead, you can subscribe here) and RMIT students and alumni.
Get writing! Entries close on May 31.
