Sovereign Trax presents a monthly playlist of “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music culture steez”, curated by Wiradjuri woman Hannah Donnelly. We’ve been loving Hannah’s mixes, so we’re psyched that she’s made us this killer mixtape.

1. Paul Gorrie – Pay the Rent

Paul Gorrie is a yung Kurnai man currently holdin up in northside Melbourne. “Pay the Rent” is a response to the forced closures of Aboriginal communities in WA #SOSBlakAustralia.

2. Ancestress x Yilinhi – Speak the Truth

Ancestress, a Kungulu, BirriGubba and Wiri, Murri teams up withYilinhi a Wiradjuri and Gamilaroi writer, poet and artist to spit the Truth… “Do you really believe the enemy will ever provide sanctuary living a stolenwealth government and a displaced mentality.”

3. Inonymous – Sometimes ft. Leelow

This song “Sometimes” is everything by Inonymous son of the Jagera Nations of Brisbane currently residing in FNQ Kuranda ft. brother man Leelow X on the hook.

4. Elijah the Profit – The Fallen Kingdom ft. BSK

“From a Fallen Kingdom Built on Stolen Land” by Elijah the Profit, born and bred in Cairns and reppin the Torres Straits, Badu and Hammond Islands, and also part of the Red Eye Balaz crew.

5. Birdz – All We Know

Badtjala rapper Birdz grew up in Ktown (Katherine) NT. Birdz went straight savage on “All We Know” flipping perceptions of pain defining our people.

6. Iron Link – Kin and Kings

Iron Link is a Kullili and Gamilaraay brother based up in Cairns QLD. His new track “Kin and Kings” in collab with Jumnji Beats rates hard.

7. Seeka – Late Ambience ft. Gekkz x Mad Madam x Marze

Seeka reppin the Torres Strait Island nations, “Late Ambience” is a cross with Madam, Gekkz and Marze on the cuts. This is a sneak peak of what’s in store with the Late Ambience Mixtape coming soon from dis chiller.

8. MC Bunz – War of the Words

Koori brother MC Bunz settles the score on “War of the Words” from the 2013 Merry Ginchmas Mixtape.

9. Lady Lash – Blind Love

A Kokkath woman from South Australia now based in Melbz, Lady Lash is a fierce femme fatale rapper who incorporates her love of jazz and blues into her form.

10. Dubbzone – Extraordinary But I’m Black

Dubbzone got permission from the legendry Murri poet and activist Lionel Fogarty to flip his poem “Fair Skin Abo” for this track.

11. Deekay – Time for Sum Akshun

OG Goomeroi songman Deekay is part of the BLK MNY Records crew. This track was fresh out of the Brisbane Aboriginal Sovereign Embassy when they were denied camping access on the site.

12. Provocalz – Cop Shot

Provocalz is gamilaroi mob but born n raised in southwest Sydney. This song is off the Verbal Reality Vol 1 Mixtape.

13. Dizzy Doolan – Strictly Women’s Biz

Dizzy Doolan is from the Wakka Wakka, Ewamin, Taka Laka, Gurang Gurang and Mandandanji peoples. She wrote this song to inspire tiddas to be strong and to have a voice. YASSSSS QWEEEN.

14. Gekkz – What Does It Take

Gekkz is a Murri and Torres Strait Islander bala from FNQ Cairns. “What does it Take” is a track from his Broken Sleep EP. ICYMI get on it.

15. Coedie Ochre Warrah – High^Notes

Coedie Ochre Warrah is from the Mamu and Barbarrum peoples of North Queensland and his indigo third eye hip-hop stylez is pretty deadz.

16. Djarmbi Supreme – Go to Hell

Djarmbi Supreme is from the Ngugi, Goenpul, Nunukul peoples of North Stradbroke and Moreton Islands. “Go To Hell” is the first taste off the soon to be released album “Djarmbi Supreme Goes to Hell”

17. The Medics – Wake Up

The Medics worked up this REAL shii for Invasion Day, a call to acknowledge the real history of this country.
