We are proud to announce the launch of a new ongoing partnership between SWEATSHOP Writers’ Collective and The Lifted Brow, one that will result in writers from Western Sydney establishing mentorship relationships with editors at The Lifted Brow, working on pieces for the quarterly magazine, for the web, and on book manuscripts for publication.
The very first official project of the partnership is already underway: Stephen Pham is currently in residency in Melbourne at RMIT University (where The Lifted Brow’s office is located) working in the non/fictionLab’s Urban Writing House (see photo above), furthering a collection of experimental non-fiction. He is using his residency time specifically to work on an essay that explores and undermines representations of the Vietnamese-Australian as entrepreneur, as “ethnic”, and as identitarian.
Stephen Pham is a writer from Cabramatta. He has been published in Overland, The Lifted Brow, Right Now, and Seizure, and he is an original member of the SWEATSHOP Writers’ Collective.
On Wednesday 12 October, 4-5pm, Stephen will be available for informal conversation about his work. He will also be doing a short Q&A with Sam Cooney, publisher at The Lifted Brow. Feel free to drop by and see Stephen in the studio; all are welcome to attend.
