Thanks to the good people at the Sydney Writers’ Festival, we have two double passes to give away to events at this year’s festival, which kicks off on 18 May.
What can I win tickets to?
We have a double pass on offer for both of these events:
Anyone can complain, but a true blood-boiling rant is rarer by far. In this event, Seizure’s David Henley hosts Oliver Mol, Steve Kilbey, Brigid Delaney, Dee Madigan, David Hunt and Peter Polites as they let fly. No holds barred, no interruptions and no topic is out of bounds as these writers mount their soapboxes and vent their grievances.
4:30pm Sunday, May 24 at Philharmonia Studio, Pier 4/5, Hickson Road, Walsh Bay
A world in miniature. A moment close up. A life glimpsed. The art of the short story lies in the ability to illuminate a pocket of the world, and writers can spend their lives trying to create a perfect storm of structure, character, place and emotion. Danielle Wood (Mothers Grimm), Nicholas Jose (Bapo) and Abigail Ulman (Hot Little Hands) discuss the joys and vexations of short fiction, and the challenges of creating a fully formed universe in just a few pages. They speak with Alice Grundy.
3:00pm Thursday, May 21 at Wharf Theatre 2, Pier 4/5, Hickson Road, Walsh Bay
